Gloria in excelsis!
Ah, Christmas. The sounds, the sights, the smells. The time for Christmas carols, endless shopping hours and excessive feasting followed by an afternoon nap.
I can’t but be amazed at the ingenuity of shopkeepers to squeeze extra dollars from our bulemic wallets. Just finding a parking spot at a shopping centre these days may constitute a minor miracle.
For me, though, the miraculous is evident in the pure, simple beauty of God’s Son choosing to come to humankind as a helpless baby. In stark contrast to today’s commercialism, Jesus’ birth occurred without glitz and glamour, the only similarities being a few kingly gifts and a guiding star.
Remember our reason to celebrate and have a merry Christmas.
Blessings, Steve
