More Mythbusters fun

A show I accidentally ran across about a month ago is Mythbusters. It’s a surprisingly entertaining show where 2 guys use science, scrounging and machismo to explore the feasibility of common urban myths. Rowen posted on Mythbusters the same week I stumbled upon the show.

This week, they set about checking out three myths:

  • that mobile phones might be responsible for petrol station explosions (false, but sparks from clothing static could);
  • that breast implants can burst when an airplane depressurises (false, they’re quite hardy);
  • that CDs can shatter when rotated at the extremely high speeds of current drives (actually true but “highly unlikely”).

We got to see them subject stuff to extremely high and low pressures, shatter stuff at high speed, blow stuff up and get lots of hair burnt off.

Lots of fun. :)

Blessings, Steve
