Microsoft offering free AntiSpyware
After a lot of speculation about whether Microsoft would charge customers for its forthcoming AntiSpyware software, Uncle Bill announced last month that they will offer the software free of charge to its customers.
It’s good news for all users of Windows XP — Microsoft has basically bought and rebranded the best antispyware software on the market. It’s no comfort for users of other Windows versions, however, as it will only run on PCs that sport WinXP Service Pack 2. If you run XP and haven’t installed this yet, go and do it now.
Microsoft AntiSpyware is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released (ie. the full version) mid-year. Having used it myself for a couple of months, it’s pretty good now (although not perfect), so if you’re brave, you might like to try it out for yourself.
OK, I admit I’m a bit slow with this one. I’ve had the above info begging me to publish it for a couple of weeks. blush
Better late than never, eh?
Blessings, Steve
